De Pier is an icon on the Dutch coast as it was built around 1900 as a wooden promenade above the sea and from that moment on it is well-known as an unique attraction. In June 2014 the CNN quoted De Pier in the top 40 of the most appealing Piers in the world, and to be honest, the Dutch are quite proud of that!
There are plenty of things to do at De Pier! At the boulevard you will find innovative shops, restaurants and our FoodBoulevard with modern food concepts. With these concepts, we would like to offer the visitors specialties in addition to the excisting shops at the Promenade and the boulevard. The upperdeck is a promenade to have a walk and sit down at one of our terraces to have a drink or enjoy the weather.
Furthermore we have two islands. The South Island consists of three layers including a charming restaurant. The North Island is all about excitement and consists of our Pier Tower and Bungee Jump Holland. The tower and our Ferris Wheel have a impressive panoramic view over the sea and the coastline; two spots we highly recommend! Besides our regular activities, we ensure a diverse program. There sure is something for everyone; varying from summer festivals to exhibitions and kids activities.
Most certainly! Check www.piersuites.nl for more information.

De Pier is Dutch icon; every citizen sees De Pier in Scheveningen as a unique object. Due to various circumstances, the previous owner of De Pier has gone bankrupt and as a result the image of De Pier turned out negitavely. We see this as an opportunity and are motivated to make every citizen proud again. Besides that we care for the reuse of vacant properties. Instead of demolishing excisting properties, we would like to take sustainable redevelopment in consideration.
The exploitation makes sure that De Pier is open en lively for at least 5 years (2020). In the meantime we willl focus on the most sustainable solution.
By the redevelopment we would like to create a whole new program, therefore we are focusing on all the opportunities for De Pier. We want to reduce the vulnerability risk to ensure the long-term excistence. This may result in future construction projects, but this will not occur in the next five years.
Sustainability is quite abstract: our center view is focussing on the future to benefit the environment and to be economically feasible. Demolishing De Pier is a burden to the environment and a type of decapitalization. To our opinion, reusing excisting property is more sustainable and therefore a straightforward option than demolition.
In addition to the exploitation we will be focussing on the future as well. Accordingly, we will assemble a plan together with the municipality of The Hague and other stakeholders such as the entrepreneurs and residents. Our vision for De Pier is to extend The Hague’s city centre in a modern publicly accessible promenade, containing a blend of features without high rises or barricades.
We are always looking for enthousiastic entrepreneurs to work with us; please contact info@pier.nl and let us know whether you are interest in a fixed location or rather for occassional events.
